About This Venue
Round House Theatre, now in its third decade of presenting professional theatre in the Washington, DC region, operates two performance venues: a 400-seat modified thrust stage in Bethesda, Maryland and an intimate 150-seat black box theatre with flexible staging in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. Round House Theatre presents an eclectic body of work ranging from world premiere plays and musicals by today's best playwrights to innovative adaptations of contemporary and classic works. The Literary Works Project, consisting of fresh adaptations of classic plays and literature for modern audiences and the commissioning of new works based on contemporary literature, was recently inaugurated at the Bethesda theatre. Round House Theatre has been recognized for its artistry with more than 100 Helen Hayes Award nominations for Artistic Excellence, receiving the prestigious Outstanding Resident Play award in 2001, 2002 and 2004 and the 2003 Charles MacArthur Award for Outstanding New Play.
